First off you may wonder why I would be blogging about birthing contraction simulation, well Im designing a women;s health centre which focuses a lot on pregnancy and this is one of the functions I WANT TO INCLUDE IN MY DESIGN.Dennis Storm and Valerio Zena are two male presenters of the tv show Proefkonijnen (Guinea Pigs)from Holland who decided they wanted to know what all the fuss about childbirth is. They were strapped up to electrodes that simulated contractions, they lasted for only two hours.I must say they make it look ridiculously painful. To think women have to go through this for many more hours and some for a day or two.
I had a good laugh until I realised that that may be me in some years.*Inset nervous laughter here*Below is a video of the whole experienceMore here

MYK is a clock that peacefully lets you know what the time is. I love the suggestive quality it possesses.

The Origami House is a design based on Henry Ernest Dudenay's work. Henry Ernest Dudenay was a 20th Century mathematician who discovered a way to dissect a square and rearrange its parts into an equilateral triangle. The design of the building allows for it to adapt to seasonal changes.

I've partially neglected the designing of the enclosed courtyard in my building. Today inspiration tapped on my shoulder and so got some research done. I really want to create an interactive space without cluttering the courtyard as it is the main connection between the public spaces and the more private spaces. While researching I came across the Waterfall Swing which consists of a water cascade and swing. The part that makes the installation interesting ,and more importantly interactive, is that the water cascade does not make you wet as it is linked up to detectors that are synchronised to your swing.
Here's a video of the installation.
This installation leaves me feeling all kinds of happy.More here -
There is something about about choosing colours to apply to a space that I find so intimidating, be it for a conceptual project or in real life. Im at that stage in my design where I need to choose colours to apply to walls, furniture and all that nitty-gritty stuff.I've settled on making use of earthy colours such as blues, greens and rustic reds. Here's to hoping it all comes together. Here are some images to show more or less the kinda colours I would like to use.

Brrrrr polar bear ice tray by black+blum lets you "break the ice" without actually having to touch it. The sealed top stops food particles from getting into the ice and the absorption of odours.

Grey to Green is a series of paving stones that can accommodate the growth of vegetation. The paving can be used within the typical concrete jungle cities and create an urban environment that celebrates nature rather than contain it it areas such as city gardens or the typical roof top garden.

The Autumn/ Winter Chair falls into the "Needed for winter survival" category since autumn has made her presence known and so will winter in a few months. I'm big on summer but I could tolerate winter with this chair.
